What does MONAT really do to your hair?

Many conventional products build up a film around the hair and scalp over time – often due to silicones or other residues. While this may make the hair feel soft and smooth in the short term, it also "coats" it, limiting its ability to absorb genuine conditioning treatments.

MONAT works differently. The products not only support the hair at the ends, but also help to gradually remove old residues from the hair and scalp.

This can initially cause the hair to feel unusual:

  • Dryer or grippier

  • Faster oiliness at the roots

  • More sensitive scalp

  • More hair in brush or shower

 

This does not mean that the products are "bad" – but rather that old deposits are loosened and your real hair is revealed again.

Only when this film is removed can moisture penetrate better, conditioning agents work properly, and hair and scalp improve in the long term.

What happens during the detox phase?

When you switch to new, higher-quality hair care products, your hair and scalp may go through a so-called detox phase. This often happens in the first few weeks and is a completely normal process.

Many conventional products coat your hair like a film – for example, due to silicones or other residues. When you switch to new hair care products, this film gradually begins to loosen.

What happens in the hair during this process?

  • Old residues come off the hair

  • The surface becomes "freer"

  • Your real hair will reappear.

The detox phase can last approximately 4-6 weeks, depending on hair structure and previously used products. Only once these residues are removed can conditioning agents work effectively, moisture penetrate the hair better, and hair and scalp sustainably improve.

What can you notice?
During this phase, your hair may temporarily feel different:

  • Drier in the lengths
